94th N Maple athlete and Moore Catholic student/athlete Hasan Ringer recently signed a national letter of intent to attend Queens College on a full athletic scholarship. The 17-year-old Ringer, a recent Moore Catholic High-School graduate, was named the 2017 MVP of The Annual Staten Island Senior All-Star game where he scored a game high 33 points. The 6-foot-4 guard had 10 points at halftime and tallied 23 after intermission, including a 13-point fourth quarter. The now Queens College Knight has been preparing for his upcoming freshman season where he is looking to make a name for him self. "I am extremely proud of Hasan" Said Demetrius Taylor, Director of 94th N Maple. " Hasan actually is a tremendous student which translates to his game which is how he earned his scholarship, I've watched him grow into an outstanding young man and will continue to work with him through his college career. This is just a testament of the promise of The 94th N Maple Basketball Academy, which is preparing both the student/athletes and parents for the next level...because trust me, Hasan's mother Shelia and I has had countless apprehensive conversations about the process on getting into him college and most importantly into a scholarship program", Taylor says with a chuckle. "She was so nervous wanting the best for her son, but she's good now". The Knights will be playing an exhibition game against the University of Connecticut Huskies on Sunday, Nov. 5.
